Powerful Professional Tool
I had bought what I thought was an adequate power screwdriver for repairing my fence. I often had to finish the job with a manual one. When I saw how my carpenter brother-in-law’s DeWalt did the job, I bought one. I doubt that I will ever have to buy another. Great tool!

ya tenia uno a baeria. conozco la performance este es mas maniobrable porque es mas corto. lamento no haber aprovechado la promo que venìa con el de alto impacto solo por uss 40 mas.pero DEWALT tiene en mi un admirador. tengo 1 – electrico y ahora 2 a bateria.

It’s a must have!
I had to replace my old drill because the battery would no longer hold a charge. To be expected after 15 years or so lol. I was pleasantly surprised to find this upgraded version for much less than my local boxstore. For $100 you won’t find a better quality hand drill!

Great little portable drill!
I needed a relatively small drill for my workbench and this drill fits the bill quite nicely. It’s got plenty of power for my needs, plus it’s comfortable in my hand. I haven’t had a chance to really test the battery life, but it’s got more than enough power to do my small projects. Overall, I highly recommend it!

I love this drill!
So my friend has an older brushed Dewalt drill and I have always admired it during projects. certainly better than my old 18v Black & Decker. When I saw this listing I put it on my wish list and finally bought it.I got a chance to use it this weekend when my friend and I worked on his basement drilling studs, running wire and drywalling. I was able to compare my new one to his old one. This new Dewalt Drill is shorter in length (little more compact). However his was slightly thinner but not by much and they were the same height. Weight wise they are about the same and its slightly heavier than my old Black And Decker.It worked flawlessly and even my friend used it and said he liked it better than his. It has plenty of power and handled everything we through at it. My friend was especially jealous that the battery had an indicator on it. After all the use this weekend, my battery still has 2 out of 3 bars on it! Awesome!This is a great little kit and a wonderful drill!

The drill works excellent. The most important thing is that it comes with a charger so it makes working so much better. My biggest gripe against the dewalt was is it’s a little on the heavy side compared to other brands like Milwaukee or Makita, but it’s power was great.

Excellent Drill
I am a big fan of Dewalt tools so I knew it would be a quality tool but it still exceeded my expectations! I bought the brushless model and it is extremely well built. I just received it today so I haven’t used it much yet but am looking forward to it. It is so much nicer that the one I am replacing it with.

Great so far
I’ve been using this drill every day since I got it almost 2 weeks ago, to drive 2 1/2″ and 3 1/2″ construction screws to frame out some walls.The batteries have been lasting a good long time considering the use they’re getting.Charging is quick enough that I haven’t had to stop and wait for a battery to finish charging.The drill seems to have all the power and torque I need, although I haven’t tried using it for any heavy duty drilling yet. I’m hoping it’ll be able to handle drilling holes with a paddle bit through a couple of 2x4s so I can run wiring without having to use an extension cord in a crawlspace anymore.That’s been the one shortcoming of the Ridgid drill I’ve been using the past couple of years, and the biggest reason I’ve come back to Dewalt.I did drop this drill from a stepladder,onto a concrete floor today, and it landed hard enough to send the screwdriver bit flying out of the bit holder. But when I picked it up and put the bit back in, it worked fine and hadn’t shown any damage.As far as ergonomics, most of the cordless drills I’ve used over the past 10 years or so have been pretty comfortable to work with. This one is no exception.The keyless chuck has been flawless so far. But I haven’t used it with any small drill bits yet.I also really like the built in LED worklights. They work very well, and are located where they actually shed light on the project without being completely blocked out by your hands as you try to work, which is what always seems to happen with my old Makita.I don’t care for the charger, which feels cheap and is a PITA to get the batteries in and out of compared to every other one I’ve ever used. And I’ve been using cordless drills a lot since the late 80s.The other thing I’m not crazy about is the carrying bag that comes with the kit.It seems to be sturdy enough. But I have to take the battery out of the handle to fit the drill into it. And it’s still like a puzzle to get my drill bits and the drill, charger and batteries in and get the zipper to close.I’m happy that Dewalt does still include the bag with this drill kit, since some others don’t give you anything at all. But this bag would not have been my first choice for this drill kit.First of all because it’s hard to get everything to fit into it at all, and also because you have to take everything out of it to find anything because you can’t see into it very well. Everything gets put together like a puzzle to get it in, which means it’s just as much of a pain to get it out.It’s also an awkward shape that doesn’t allow it to fit neatly into my truck with my other drills.I much prefer the flat rectangular drill bags that allow me to arrange everything easily inside the bag and then fit into a smaller space standing on edge.In all, I’m very happy with the tool itself. And as long as the charger doesn’t crap out on me, I can live with the other minor inconveniences because the drill is a pleasure to work with.

NEVER disassemble
This is my third DeWalt hand drill in, oh, 15 years? Longer, counting the ones that had the YUGE battery packs with the posts in the middle you shoved into the grip I’ve probably owned five.Thing is, they DO wear out, pretty much reliably AFTER the 3 year warranty. But there are small changes, better lighting, shorter, lighter, etc., over time so, planned obsolescence isn’t always a bad thing but…This started “slipping,” losing its grip on drills some time ago, even the ones with the hex base on them – I thought maybe the drill was coming loose in the hex hub but, no. The clutch was messed up.Unfortunately, this one never got registered – I have the receipt and it’s about four years old.I tend to beat the heck out of drill motors. I USE them a LOT for household/farm construction projects and, for the most part, get my money’s worth.I’m an inveterate tinkerer, amateur gunsmith among other hobbies and I’m not averse to opening up gadgets before I buy a new one to see if I can fix it.So I did.BANG! parts everywhere. gears, ring gears, pinion(s)?, greasy parts just fell out and, try as I could I couldn’t get any of it to reassemble completely, finally said, well, into the recycling bucket, and ordered a new one. $100. That’s 25 dollars a year on average and I own a half dozen-plus 2 to 5 amp batteries for them (and all the other DeWalt cordless tools I own) so it’s not that much of a loss, considering.Today, poking around for something under my trailer – parked close to my garage workbench – I found not one, not two, but three “extra” gears. There’s probably more around somewhere I’ll come across.I’m sure there’s a trick to reassembly. I still didn’t buy the extended warranty. I never use them. These things always seem to last JUST AS LONG AS THE WARRANTY plus a few days or months just to rub it in.I have a friend who SWEARS by the “RED BRAND” of power and hand tools; gave me a really hard time about DeWalt about five years ago. Then the chuck in his “RED BRAND” hoity-toity pricey cordless hand drill locked up so tight we couldn’t open it even clamped in a 4” Wilton vise; company made good on the warranty though, it was ONLY a few months old.Like they say, you pays your money and takes your chances.

Only 1 battery!!!
My third. The drills outlast the batteries. I can’t give less than a 5 because these are great drills but I’m disappointed that it didn’t come with 2 batteries like my first 2 did. I need 2 batteries so I can keep working while 1 battery charges.

Thus far this drill has been up the tasks given in real world use. Battery life is good. Unit has done all that has been ask of it. I will be interested to see the lifespan of the clutch and chuck, as my last couple drills died of those issues. A note, the light is a great thing if it were aimed at point of use it would be even better.

I got this for my wife a year ago and she loves it! She uses it all the time. So this year I got one for each of my kids.The DeWalt name means you are getting one of the best, if not the best. I use only DeWalt tools. The batteries last a long time for day to day activities. This isn’t the most powerful DeWalt drill, but it gets the work done for simple repairs. This one includes the battery (3 volt), the charger and the drill. The drill is strong enough to screw deck screws into the deck, and also to run a screw into the inside wall. For my kids, it means they can put screws into the wall to hang pictures, tighten the door screws, etc. Lots of uses. I also bought them a drill set and screwdriver bit set.
